After going through the power outages associated with one of the recent hurricanes in the US southeast, I’m looking seriously into a grid interactive power backup system. In all likelihood, I’ll have an inverter/charger that manages a battery backup system and intelligently supplies most of my house’s loads and switches between one (or more) AC sources (grid, generator, etc) and the batteries in the case of grid failure.
If the sense is installed upstream of the inverter/charger, is it going to be able to see the minor power fluctuations in the managed loads on the other side of the inverter/charger or would I expect to see something like what I have now with my loads on UPSs (i.e. “unknown”)?
