Interesting @rgmichel. My observations have been that Sense, especially in the past (2019 and earlier), had some measurement reliability issues, but that when all is well, it is incredibly close to my utility net meter (within +/- 0.5%). And if I try to substitute my solar inverter data for my Sense solar data, I get much larger discrepancies during the daytime, because the inverter metered production is about 3% greater than Sense shows.
From what I have seen on this forum, there are many more solar users that see their solar inverter data as being 2-4% “over optimistic” on a systematic basis, vs Sense and correlation with their utility meter. One example below.
So in my mind, Sense is a little more prone to outages, especially in the past, but is also more accurate at the meter box than most solar inverters.
