Multiple Air Handlers w/ Dedicated Circuit Monitoring

Hi Kevin

I have a separate AH Downstairs and an associated AC Compressor for it outside. When the AC turns on the associated AH kicks in. Same for the AC Compressor outside for the AH in the Attic. I use propane to heat and have a Triangle Tube boiler that hangs on the wall in the basement. It feeds the 2 separate AH’s when heat is called for. The 2 AC are 240 Watts and the identical Goodman units. The 2 AH’s are also Goodman units but evidently are different models. Is this detailed enough? If not please let me know. Thanks, Steve Hoff

Thanks,
Enough details for me… Just trying to understand other system types.
FYI - here’s my DCM for my downstairs furnace and air handler.

Very interesting and thanks for the photo. I may have to try a few of these. After 6 weeks only 7% of my usage has been identified by Sense, the rest being Unidentified, Other, and Always On. I wonder how this compares with other Sense users.

I have a bunch of smart plugs installed and I’m down to about 23% Other. 3 observations:

  1. If I had to do it again, I would have been more judicious in my use of smart plugs by using a traveling one first. No use using an HS300 when all but one of the devices in my AV cabinet are using less than 10W at all times. Should have used 2 single smartplugs, one for the AV receiver and one for all the video devices less than 10W on a regular outlet strip.
  2. For me, I treat Always On as a “device” because there is a way to peel back that component into it’s individual components via experimentation and smartplugs.
  3. The most of my Other lies in the two devices measured by my DCM on my second Sense. I’m guessing if I combine the data I’ll reduce my Other to about 10%.

Impressive! I will use your observations judicially.

Hi Kevin - Finally a solution. Tyler from Sense sent me this message yesterday and I took his advice and reset the Designated Sensors and they are now working fine.

“I now see where the problem is. The monitor is configured to have the DCM setup, and the sensor itself is reporting to our servers so we have the data, but the monitor didn’t actually create a device for that sensor.”

Happy days are here again!

Great… Sounds like DCM made it through setup, but really didn’t make it fully through setup. The support guys are really helpful. And it sounds like your breaker panel is laid out exactly as you expects.

Kevin - Thanks for your perseverance and recommendations. Steve Hoff
