I have no clue, but this is the first I’ve heard of it so I kinda doubt it. But I really, really, really hope not.

Those are a bit unsettling to see, but it is important to keep in mind that just because something shows as “Sold” on eBay, doesn’t mean the buyer actually paid. Hopefully that’s the case for the bulk of these.
You are correct that it doesn’t mean they were all “paid”. But eBay fees are calculated when a listing ends. When you see the total shown in green type, that means it cost the seller money. There are ways to get eBay fees reversed but it’s a pain. I regret buying mine on eBay to get a better deal. If I had to do it over again, I would purchase direct from sense.
