I’m a firm believer in not quoting 500 irrelevant lines of someones post in order to reply to one specific part of what they typed. On any other forum you simply truncate the content between the bbCode quote tags and the forum only displays what you left of the OP’s content so you can respond on point without making everyone guess what exact point from the quote you were responding to.
However, here, if you make even the tiniest edit to the previous persons text inside the quote bbCode, the forum munges the quote, not honouring the bbCode anymore and presenting the quote in plain text.
Needless to say that results in a mess.
WHY, oh WHY??!

FIRST TEST

@RyanAtSense
First test is broken, I was able to break remaining 2nd, 3rd, 4th tests really easily, but was able to recover, but first test stayed broken.
Hope this helps discourse support.

Test test test reply!
Yep, there ya go, chanced absolutely nothing except removing some of the quoted text.
Agree! Discourse just handles this a bit differently. If you highlight the text you’d like to quote from their post, a Quote button will pop up. You just click this and it will populate in your reply. You can do this as many times as you’d like.
Interesting, OK, that works. Still doesn’t make much sense to me vs seemingly every other forum software on the planet which handles quotes with simple bbcode, but meh.
Thanks
