It’s more of a surprise now. I feel like opening up my panel box to make sure someone hasn’t stolen it sometimes.
I remember when Sense found my garage door opener.
Happy times …
Added bonus - I could set the notifications and or log when my teenage daughter came home at night through the garage door.

excited?
not so much
2 years of using it and it really hasn’t identified anything meaningful. Almost none of my major appliances or HVAC equipment. Overall, sense has not really been useful to me at all.
arlo… I think the last device that I saw I deleted because it didn’t make any sense to me. It was a ‘Heat X’. Was not sure what to do with it other then delete it. was low wattage and was not the furnace. I have had the system running for I think 3 years now. My biggest disappointment was two years ago when I had a pipe burst out in the field. I graze cattle on 100 acres. The fields are piped with 1 inch. My well pump ran for over 24 hours for I / sense never picked up the pump. I will take the blame, for I should have look at total wattage. Missed it. But, the well didn’t run dry and all is well… Gerry
That’s pretty much been my experience too. Seems to work for some folks, but not well (or at all) for many of us. Guess it was just over sold and a harder problem than Sense realized. In my case, Sense engineering did look into why I was being so unsuccessful, and determined it’s because of my constant pressure variable speed deep well pump. They say it’s “noisy”, and that obscures most of the other signatures.
Where I do have detection, (about 13 of my current 178 devices), the results aren’t consistent either. Someday, I will just get it disconnected and give up.
really? after all these years of having it and being active on the forum, you’d have it disconnected? …I truly doubt that. I’d bet big money against it.
albeit, you may pay less attention to it, but it’ll be connected, because the overall meter readings are beneficial and provide data on a daily basis that our electric company will not provide to us. you (and all of us) are smart enough to know what we can change to improve energy consumption.
overall, the daily readings are helpful. I have a ton of servers and a data business on my main panel that totals a $1,500 electric bill per month. I believe this high line noise interferes with discoveries on the Sense Meter, but between usage of some smart plugs and observation of the Sense Meter, I can see when an outlier of a problem happens.
I got excited for the one device it discovered… Just one so far, a well pump that it thought was an air conditioner.
But here’s what sense did do for me, it made me purchase a kill o watt to figure out where all the 500w of always on was coming from. That was enlightening as I found out my UV water sanitation light was almost 70w and my toilets were 55w each. I’ve been able to reduce it to about 400w of always on.
I already had fairly sophisticated power monitoring for my solar/geothermal home, a WELserver, but I bought Sense thinking it would give me lots more detail. And, mostly it hasn’t. Oh well.
