I just noticed that the Home Assistant Tesla HACs integration includes access to Tesla Solar data. So here’s a fun view of Sense vs. Tesla/Inverter solar reporting through the eyes of Home Assistant. I think the last time I looked closely, the Tesla inverter was tabulating about 2.5% more energy throughout the day vs Sense. Blue is Tesla, purple is Sense.
The Home Assistant sampled power output between the two looks similar except for:
- Some spikes sampled from the inverter. I can’t see these in the Tesla app because Tesla integrates likely integrates them away in the conversion into energy produced.
- Some weirdness at sunrise and sunset. Sense picks up a more graduated increase and decrease in production. Tesla sees a quantum leap up and down.
