I think you just answered your own question - you need a new blanket with old style analogue controls. The one listed above from Amazon seems like it’d do the trick.
We too have a newer style blanket with the digital controls and although that’s nice and all, yeah, you can’t remotely turn it on no matter what you do because of such.
