I’m still new to Sense community and my sense is slowly identifying new devices. But, a couple days ago, I got an alert for a new device detected. It was initially labeled at mystery heat 1. When I looked at my time-line, watts it was pulling and other devices that were on & off at the time, I changed it to Air Conditioner.
Side note, Sense had already detected my A/C unit at this point.
My thought process was I have a 2 stage A/C unit, and on cloudy/cooler days my A/C won’t run both stages, just the one. So, this was probably just 1 of the 2 stages available. I labeled it and merged it with the A/C devices that was already listed in sense. I’m now thinking it isn’t part of my A/C system and is something else. What should I do at this point? Should I just change it back to mystery heat 1 and let sense continue to monitor it, delete this device all together, or something else?
I’ve tried finding the device by turning appliances on & off, but no luck as of yet. I don’t want sense to ignore it as it does pull a good amount of energy, but I don’t think it’s a part of my A/C system either. I’ve adde a screen shot to look over. Thank you.
@gjgrosser, I’m glad your new system is identifying devices. That is a fun phase!
The first option is what I recommend. It will show up as a separate device (which you can rename as you wish) if you “Unmerge” it. The command to do this is under the device tab of your A/C. Press the settings cog and then the Manage tab. Down at the bottom is the button you want.
@jefflayman , I should have been more clear on actions, sorry. Although I left the name as A/C ?, with the “?” which helps specify device, I did unmerge it already when I posted this topic.

Okay, you are on the right track. Whatever name you select is merely for your own benefit, and will not change how Sense performs. Take your time figuring out the name you want to keep, as detection is not affected by the name.
Sense provides relevant icons to encourage people to label their devices appropriately. This is mostly so things look good on your own screen. There is, however, one benefit for the community if you name things well: whenever new devices are found in other people’s homes, the suggested names are more accurate since those are based on similar devices which are anonymous to other users.
