Lawyers always like spending time. That is how they get paid. If it is not clear to you now, Sense does not have a development team for this, and, clearly, no interest in having one. The app has likely been developed through an outsourced firm, and now they do not like spending any money on that.
It is a pattern I have seen many, many times, because I made my business “rescuing” companies that had gone down that path and finally realizing it did not work out well. Some companies, however, do not have enough interest, or focus, to recognize this, and this kind of stuff keeps happening. It is my strong suspicion that Sense’s overall business focus is very much on utility companies, meters, etc, and not on us end-user consumers.
