Editing Always-On Devices

I have had Sense for a time, I recently added Home Assistant and it is taking devices from Sense that I listed as being Always On, many of which I don’t have anymore (iPhone 5??). I would like to remove those and update that list but although I can see the list of devices when I click on Always on I am unable to edit it from my Mac or iOS. Did some update along the way remove this feature?

I think Always On itemization has been removed.

So the only way to remove the items from my account so they don’t transfer to HA is to remove ALL my old data, reboot my acct?

Pretty sure you can edit in HA so you don’t have to see all the extraneous devices. But, yes, it looks like every device added via any route (smart plug or manual itemization) is persistent at the Sense mothership (cloud data). The Always On itemization has been removed from the phone/tablet client, but still shows up in the web app.

Anything that is imported from Sense can ONLY be removed by disconnecting Sense. It makes zero sense to have data on your account that you put there and you cannot edit. No body keeps all their devices for life

But for a good data-oriented company, the data is useful forever.

Yes, all the past and present devices come over into Home Assistant, but you can choose what you want to visualize.

So Reset my Sense Account is my only open you say?

I’m advocating something different, but I’m assuming a Reset is the only way to clear all the prior data on the account.

@israndy,

Very late reply, but I just ran into this myself. I found that I had an “old” installation on one of my android phones that allowed me to edit the Always On devices. For Android that is 2025.1 and earlier. I was able to duplicate on yet another old phone by side loading a 2024.9 APK. I eliminated all my estimates from Sense and then delete the Entities from Home Assistant.

Still struggling with how to delete the devices from Home Assistant.

Can’t offer advice on how to load older versions of IOS apps on Iphones other than be careful.

Good suggestion, too bad I already factory reset my Sense, but I did have an old iPhone 5 sitting around I could have used to edit that data and then removed the connection to HA and allowed an updated version to be connected. Next time

Where do you access the “EDIT” ‘Always ON’ list? I can see the list on my web APP using my PC, but I do not see where I can edit it. I have several items that I have removed from service and need to modify my list.

@Dcdyer , I don’t think there is a way to edit today. The web app is the only place to see the list and it has moved to “view only”. As James has hinted at, the phone/tablet app versions have been updated to use new likely-simpler and less expensive to operate endpoints. The Web app and associated endpoints continue for compatibility with Web app and probably the Sense informal API.

ps: I probably need to change my blog on methodology.
pps: The good news is that it looks like new tablet/phone app features like support for more Kasa/Tapo smart plugs feed the backend data to both endpoints, so the calculated Always On values for my new Kasa plugs (new EP25s that require authentication) show up in the Web App. The HP LaserJet 2 is from a new EP25.
