Load calculation error with Dedicated CT's

I just finally invested the time to reconfigure my Sense to split the dedicated CT’s so that one is monitoring my EVSE and the other the Air Handler for my Heat Pump. After a couple of user error mistakes during the installation, I finally got everything up and running.

I’m seeing what appears to be a calculation error in the App. My EV is charging right now, and the Sense app is reporting it pulling 11,880 kW (Now View), but when I look at the Meter graph, it’s showing total utilization at 10,318Kw and when I look at the ChargePoint HomeFlex EVSE connected to my Audi Q4, it shows that it’s drawing 9.1Kw (50amp circuit, drawing max of 40amp circuit) which is pretty normal operation.

The Meter graph seems to be consistent with what I expect after having an EV charging on this EVSE for the last 2-1/2 years.

UPDATE: I ended up being able to reconfigure my Sense back to having both CT’s on the EV and now everything is working as expected. Probably pilot error above but it’s no longer needed.

@don1 , here are two thoughts on potential differences

  • using a single CT for an EV (or any 240V device on DCM) assumes a balanced load (typically with no neutral wire). If your ChargePoint charger has an unbalanced load (usually 120V load on just one of the legs) then DCM will either add or subtract that 120V x 2 to the final result.
  • another thought - does the ChargePoint charger show power consumed or power delivered to the car ? Just looking online, your charger can have a 600-1000W loss at 40A.

Lots of these kinds of postings out there.
