Sense Community Update

An important update about the Sense Community Forum

Hi everyone,

I wanted to come here personally to share some news: on June 5th, we’ll be closing the Sense Community forum. If you have an orange monitor, nothing changes. It keeps working and support continues. We’re not stepping back from monitor owners, you’re a core part of where Sense has been, and where it’s going.

This space has been home to some genuinely brilliant people: early adopters, obsessive tinkerers, patient troubleshooters, and advocates who helped others understand their energy in ways we never could have scripted. We’re proud of what this community became, and that’s entirely because of you.

Going forward, we’ll be focusing our support through the Sense Help Center and Sense Blog, tools that work for all our customers, including those joining through their utilities.

Here’s what’s changing and what isn’t:

What’s changing:

  • The Community forum will close on June 5th
  • New registrations are closed from today

What isn’t changing:

  • Your Sense device and data continue as normal
  • Monitor support is available anytime at the Sense Help Center
  • Product updates will continue on the Sense Blog

Got questions? We’ve put together a FAQ that covers everything, including what happens to your content, where to find support, and more.

While we are all saddened by this news, we genuinely appreciate the heads up!

Thanks @Dir_CX ,

I’m not surprised. A lot of communities are drifting away from old-fashion forums, which is probably why Reddit keeps absorbing the spillover. That and Reddit seems to be a major source for AI answers. I think I’ll probably head over the Sense subreddit over the next month.

On AMI 2.0 meters, I’m hoping and expecting that we’ll see utilities get aggressive about rolling them out based on grid operator challenges of solar and EVs (definitely challenges for the grid here in CA). I think it’s only a matter of time before the new AMI meters hit the wild and become widely available (and a far better deal than the $299 I paid, not counting the electrician)

I still love my Sense monitor - it takes some effort to learn how to get the most out of it, but once you put in the time, it’s worth it. And I’m betting that we’ll continue to see improvements, though likely more driven by utility needs - EV, Solar and HVAC monitoring, plus reliability monitoring.

ps: I tend to follow Sense on LinkedIn nowadays to see what’s coming on the utility side - that’s where all the marketing activity is visible.

Can’t say I’m surprised just part of the “Death by a thousand cuts”.

I never felt like Sense did much focusing support in the community anyway. It was always other Volunteers and members helping. If you did run across a Sense employee it was usually, Open a ticket!
