This should be pretty easy to implement - I cannot envision a scenario where you would not want notifications, if you are really trying to identify and name devices.
If it can’t be enabled by default, maybe add an “opt in” setting so the user can enable these notifications by default. It’s a pain to go in and set up notifications every time a device is discovered.
