That is great to hear. Perhaps there is some delay in the system—I also think when you get those plugs online, they ask right away for a software update, so there may be some troubleshooting and updating that needs to be done to make sure the plugs are ready to go and working as they should.
One other interesting and useful change. I don’t think I have ever seen this message before for a smart plug - an alert after it has calculated the Always On for that plug, plus guidance to set the Standby. Nice ! It would be nice if that calculation could be reset, for people using my “traveler smart plug” methodology.
It appears my Sense system was on one Wireless Network/VLAN, while my Plugs where on another, I moved my Sense system over to my ‘IOT” VLAN, and all is well now. Not sure why/how Sense was on the wrong VLAN.
I assume I can PM you a list of devices as well? I’ve got multiple devices in my Sense setup that got deleted in the Kasa app, that are ghost in my Sense app now.
(For reason unknown my Sense system is showing offline right now (it hardly ever goes offline), I’ll get you a screen shot of the items I’d like to see delete from my Sense app.
Sense came back online, and went off line seconds later… never seen this behavior before…. strange. Sense keeps bouncing…. ok, I’ll get back to you with the list as soon as I can.
Thanks!
I have seen that feature before but it doesn’t seem too common - I’m guessing that the standby threshold may exceeded the default that gets added (8W).
Ok - Its been TOOO long sense I last used the sense labs. Can someone refresh my memory on accessing Sense Labs from the current IOS App ? Under Connect Devices, I just see “TP-Link Energy Monitoring Smart Plug”, and I just updated to the most recent app in the app store (IOS).
I just got some of the TP110 from Tapo and I’m hoping they will work.
I also see the S515D which is a 3 way dimmer with energy monitoring.
Quickly looking they appear to show daily and hourly usage, but does anyone know if any of these support/display “real time” usage?
If not then I imagine they would not be compatible with Sense. If they do then it might be possible.
Sense compatible smart dimmers would be amazing. I had high hopes with the Wiser ones, buggy as heck but better than nothing while the integration lasted. Being able to monitor ceiling fans, recessed lighting, chandeliers, etc… would go a long way to understand the ‘unknown’, providing a much clearer picture of my households usage.
I have seen this before, as @JamesDrewAtSense mentioned it only appears if the standby exceeds the default 8w.
You can set the standby to on threshold and on/off duration in Device settings → manage. Always on is determined like any other device.
Not sure if this applies to the ‘lab’ integrated plugs as I have not yet played around with this feature yet.
I’ve been away most all summer & will get back into the swing of things later in Sept… Really disappointed in now much power my home uses with only one person here & only during the week.
Just a reminder to all. There is a utility that I described here, that will let you pull info on Kasa (and presumably Tapo) smart plugs on your network. I have found it to be a great diagnostic, and it works in “discover” mode with the added authentication for the newly-supported Kasa plugs. Don’t know how it behaves for Tapo plugs or for the Kasa power-sensing switches and outlets @ljkelley is describing.
Hi, at this time we don’t have any plans to - Only the plugs I have previously listed. If you find this shows activity in the Sense app though let me know.
I just noticed that this new functionality was recently removed from my Labs. Now all of my EP25 version 2.6 are back to not working. What happened here? I didn’t see an announcement as to it being taken offline. It fixed my issue with the EP25 smart plugs with varying success only to have them disappear.
I just checked and the login page appears to be there in Sense Labs. I am not sure why you would not see it, but if possible, I would check again. If you don’t see it, send me a private message with a screenshot so I can investigate further and work to help you.
This is a beta / labs feature so some things may go offline or get changed from time to time.
Let me know what you find, thanks again!
