Kasa EP25 smart plug updates

Hi @ron111157,

I decided to brave it and updated my sole EP25 in the house to the new release. Good News ! At least for me it continued working.

  1. More info - starting point was v1.0 hardware and 1.0.13 firmware.

  2. Did the update from the Kasa app:

  1. I updated at 11:12AM and the update didn’t even cause a ripple in my the Power Meter for the Doorbell (with Ring) that is on that EP25.

  1. I also took a look before and after using the Kasa utility I described here. There was no difference in the EP25s response, except for the version number, so no change in protocol. As I mentioned at the end of that same post, it looks like the currently non-compatible EP25s are on a different hardware and firmware versioning scheme with v2.6 hardware and v1.0.2 Build 231108 Rel.163012 firmware.

Good luck - So I would say double check your hardware and firmware version before you update. I can’t guarantee anything, but with the aforementioned versions it worked for me.
