Before you post

  • Introduce yourself! — New Members/Old Members: Introduce yourself!

  • Use the search! Check if your question has been answered before. Check for a relevant topic you can post in before starting a new topic. Topics will be merged with previous topics at moderator discretion.

  • Check the category. Categories keep us all organized. Topics will be moved if they’re not in the correct category. Topics will be renamed and recategorized moderator discretion.

  • Check the New User Resource & Guides for some of the most popular resources and guides, including links to helpful community posts and threads.

  • After checking into the New User thread 46, you can start to browse existing resources and Community threads that are among the most popular/useful with users. We have broken out the resources by category, and continue to add more as new resources and guides are available. We welcome suggestions for content you would like to see here.

  • Learn more about how to use the Discourse platform that runs the community. Discourse offers a lot of really cool stuff for keeping the Community connected. The more you know, the more you’ll be able to leverage this Community.

Guidelines for the best community experience

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

  • Be respectful. Treat everyone with respect. No name calling or otherwise inappropriate behavior. If you see something you think we should moderate, be sure to Flag it. Don’t reply to it. Moderators reserve the right to remove any content and any user account for any reason at any time.

  • Be welcoming. We’re all here to help each other learn and succeed. As a community, we welcome and support people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes members of any race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, color, immigration status, social and economic class, educational level, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, size, family status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability.

  • Be constructive. Criticism (whether directed towards Sense or other uses) is fine and important, but criticize constructively. This is a forum devoted to productive discussion and mutual (especially user-to-user) help. All posts should add to the discussion.

  • Stay relevant. Don’t change the focus of a topic mid stream. Don’t post in the wrong category. You do not own a topic you start; the whole Community does. An organized forum is of more benefit to everybody. Think before you post: if I was searching for an answer to this question, could I easily find this post?

  • Be descriptive. Include any relevant information in your question so you can get the most out of the community. Screenshots are encouraged!

  • Be safe. A licensed and trusted electrician should be consulted as the final word for any installation advice and troubleshooting.

  • Don’t spam. There’s no need to cross-post the same content across multiple threads or continually re-hash the same debates. Don’t post no-content replies. Instead of replying “Agreed” or “+1,” use the Like button.

  • Maintain privacy. Do not share private information about other members on this forum. Do not share private information from your Support tickets, including names and contact information of Support agents, or of other Sense employees.

  • Share your solutions Occasionally you may post a problem and find your own solution before anyone else. In those cases, it is helpful if you also post a follow-up that shares your solution. Odds are others will experience similar issues and will be grateful to find your solution.

This site is operated by your friendly local staff and you , the community.
