Power Quality Chart - not up-dating - Nov 2022

Good to know labs is not completely dead. My last updated is still March 30.

@lagomorph,
If you read back through this thread, you’ll see a message from @JamesDrewAtSense that explains that only some accounts are getting stoppered up the batch process that produces the Power Quality graphs. I have two Sense monitors on my house (one is the main one and one is used Direct Circuit Monitoring two 240V circuits, since I have solar). One of my monitors is stoppered up at March 21st, but the second one is close to up-to-date (June 5th). We’ll see if that one has stalled as well in the next few days.

@JamesDrewAtSense has said Sense is working on this, but no ETA.

Updated again today. :+1:

Hahaha - I’ve given up on the Sense Power Quality Lab. Mine hasn’t updated since the end of March.

This is an odd kind of problem for sure. There must be some codepath that we’re triggering and others aren’t. Are those of you who are having power problems having more trouble with the updates getting stuck?

I got y’all beat, no updates since March 18 :upside_down_face:

I had a power outage in the beginning of April, but of course I can’t see that…My Tesla PowerWall didn’t keep my house powered; I called them and they said my voltage was too high so the system powered off.

Hi,

I do not know if I am having “power problems”.

I was hoping the Sense “power quality lab” would help me determine whether there were issues.

I spent a lot of time on it but the lab never worked for me.

I suspect it is because I am off-grid with my own remote solar electric microgrid with two Tesla Powerwall batteries.

I see Edison also has a tesla powerwall.

Has anyone compared the systems that the power quality lab can’t handle?

Btw, I shouldn’t have said “haha” with my previous note; sorry.

It’s just that I invested so much effort into troubleshooting potential wiring problems, troubleshooting Sense problems that continuing to invest time into Sense struck me as rather funny.

And, sense still does not reliably detect appliances. That being said, I have gotten used to its quirks and it does provide me with helpful info.

Best wishes,
Kathy

EVERYONE,
keep an eye on your your power quality feature.

An update was pushed out that (hopefully) should finally resolve this long standing issue.

This will result in the loss of all previous ‘power quality’ data, but the fix should (hopefully) result in daily ‘power quality’ graph and stats updates moving forward.

It may take until the end of the week for everyone’s labs ‘power quality’ to update, so don’t freak out if yours hasn’t yet.

I can say that I have received 4 updates in 4 days which is the best this feature has worked since it’s inception years ago.

Hi all,

I’m letting you know as @obscuredtrip kinda beat me to, that the issue with Power Quality in Sense labs now should be updating as expected.
With that said all historical data will be lost but moving forward data should more reliably update.
Thanks again for your patience and staying with us through some growing pains!

Yay! However much I hate the idea that the data is gone, I’m glad that it will be reliable and consistent going forward!!

1 week update.

Power quality is now updating near hourly.
Overall I’m really happy the feature is functioning, better than it ever has…

But something isn’t quite right with how it displays & there are some gaps.
Note it’s only 7:45am on the 17th. (& yes my time zone is correct).
Will keep an eye on things to see what happens.

My power quality graph is also updating now.

But as you can see, my power quality is still wonky.

I suspect it is because of the off-grid Solar electric system with the Tesla Powerwalls/Tesla Gateway charging and curtailment processes.

As before, I am not experiencing any power quality issues with lights, electronics and/or appliances.

Thank you.
Kathy

Same here:
updating better then ever, but sometimes a 1hr gap of data

Seeing these gaps too now.

The most curious thing though, I’m seeing zero voltage dips and spikes recorded in the list. Zero. Which I think is even less than before I started having power problems. I can’t tell if I’m really having perfect power quality all of a sudden or if it’s registering wrong?!

See now this is odd. Sense says it’s detected a dip to 0v on one leg in the past 24 hours, but it hasn’t shown up in the log.

The 0v on 6/19 I think was when I was changing some breakers.

Update: Yeah I don’t think the “last 24 hours” is updating

My power quality chart is generally updating well since the changes that were made last month, besides a handful of 1 hr gaps that appear. However, I’m unsure if I can believe the data. I’m seeing a lot of power quality dips that weren’t reported previously in the charts. I have some electronics that are always on and haven’t seen any impact, despite the quality report showing multiple dips to very low voltage and even 0v. The raw data seems to be available since July 1st and shows 15 drops to 0v. Is anyone else seeing lots of dips? Is there any way to determine if this is a real problem or a reporting issue with the chart?

What you describe about Labs providing generally responsive performance with occasional missing hours matches my experience. If you have a lot of power quality dips now, you should probably look into this. Perhaps the easiest thing to do is to inform your utility of these results and ask if they can independently verify power quality at your service location.

How does your power meter look during those times of really low or 0 voltage?
