Today I received my report over last month.
But the graphics are not showing up completely.
I tried it with both Firefox & Brave (chrome based browser)
I disabled all my ad blockers etc, but depending on when I do refresh, i get different results:
The links to images, and also links to “similar homes” are all timing out. This indicates a problem with sense servers serving email content, or the links themselves are misconfigured.
How hard would it be to make a test on status.sense.com to test if one of the static pictures (or one randomly generated) pops up and turn that into an event if it doesn’t deliver > 10% of the time ?!
I think we all know the answer: they don’t care.
So I wanted to answer “Not for me!”, but the forum doesn’t like that. See picture. That’s why I had to type more text so it “looks like a complete sentence”. May be they should focus there QA efforts elsewhere but the forum?
@dolfs , @dannyterhaar , I’m seeing the same. Wouldn’t be surprised if the sense.com website update wiped out or relocated some of the assets that their MailChimp reporting relied on. I say that because the html for the email is filled with references to https://mandrillapp.com/track/click/30626042/home.sense.com which is a MailChimp web app.
When I look in gmail webmail , it has references to included pictures that are not showing up like this one:

HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found
2024-08-04 16:29:19 ERROR 404: Not Found.
So it definitely is the sense server, not mailchimp that is failing.
And like i said before: Yesterday, it suddenly worked 100% again.
Today it no longer does, just when i started this thread.
So it is a server that intermittently works and no longer works IMO.
To help split it out even further:
I saved the raw source of my webmail page.
I only sorted out the URLs grep -Eo "(http|https)://[a-zA-Z0-9./?=_%:-]*"
I’m betting the new website update cleared those assets… They put up the new website and are now clearing up all the stuff that isn’t used anymore. Except where it is, but by something someone forgot about.
It is fairly normal for a web server to be configured to redirect all http requests to an https request, thus ensure encrypted traffic. That is what is happening with this one image here. Once that is done they all run into a 404 (not found) error, indicating somebody forgot these images are being used by an email campaign. They either did not copy them to the new site, or they copied them to the wrong location.
I would say par for the course with sense’s lack of QA overall.
I saw this post before I found my email. Since I just skimmed the post, I didn’t comprehend the complaint. Looking at my email, however, made it very clear: the embedded graphics aren’t working correctly. Since the purpose of that email is to communicate in brief the entire previous month, it is graphics-heavy. Without the graphics, the email is unintelligible and useless.
I waited through a full business day, hoping it would be resolved. Looking again at the email this morning, it is still broken. What can I do to get it working again?
For curiosity, I pulled up last month’s report. That one now looks broken, too. Since it used to look good, this is about more than the current month’s report. Sense needs to restore those website assets so both the old and new emails look right.
Subject: Graphics in monthly report mostly not showing up
Complete report with screenshots and confirmation that multiple customers experience this can be read at the sense forum in this thread:
That remark leaves open the possibility that next month’s report will use entirely new resources for images etc. That would still leave all historical reports (if one saved them) useless. It seems to me also the reason why such reports should be sent as completely self contained PDF documents.
Just received this official response on the ticket I opened a day ago:
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
We’ve gotten confirmation that the issue behind the broken images in the monthly report email has been fixed. The next emails you receive from Sense should look as expected.
Best Regards,
Seamus
The incompetence with this is gigantic.
Only fixing the new reports, but not the old ones ?
Jeez…
I bet you the staff will find new funding because they are a real “technology leader”
