New Members/Old Members: Introduce yourself!

Welcome the the community @malsbury !

I just bought two Mysa’s for 240V baseboard heaters at our vacation property, which doesn’t have Sense yet (4 units, 5 meters). Haven’t installed them yet and haven’t looked at their potential API.

On the topic of integration with Sense, I have 2 Ecobees at our main home, and love that Sense can read and use historical data to improve detection. I also have 4 networked NuHeat radiant floor heater smart thermostats. They have a similar REST API to Ecobee’s with similar authentication, but it has different set of calls vs. Ecobee. I wish these thermostat guys could get it together and have a single API for home management and measurement, but that’s unlikely to happen unless users revolt and force it…

Hello - I’m Bruce from Cleveland Ohio, I’ve had my Sense monitor for over a year. My home was built in 1920 so there is still alot of old wiring but sense is working great. in the process of having my breaker box upgraded to a new Leviton load center with smart breakers. it will be interesting to compare the 2 systems

Good day,

My name’s Jal. I had a sense energy monitor installed at the beginning of March, and am excited to start tracking my energy useage.

Hi, just installed the device and gathering data. I am hoping to detect devices also from a sub panel on a different structure which is loaded with appliances and devices and it would be interesting to see what gets discovered and what not. We have a ~3kw solar system. Live in California.

Hi everyone - just installed my Sense module two weeks ago. Definitely enjoying it.

My Name is Andy, I’ve had the sense about two weeks And purchased it solely to track down why I’m having these huge energy bills. I think sense already found the device that’s causing it but I can’t locate it. Frustrating! I’m also not familiar with how these threads works, my apologies if my etiquette is off. I am a fan of all things tech and am a Tattoo Artist and Sign Maker

Hey there Andy!
Welcome to the community. I recommend sharing some in-app screenshots from the Power Meter in the Device Detection forums here. There are a lot of experienced users here who may be able to point you in the right direction based on what the energy usage of your device looks like in-app. It’s also worth mentioning that at the 2 week mark, Sense is still working on analyzing your home energy usage and device detection will continue to improve with time.

Looking forward to being quizzed about your “mystery” electrical signatures! Kinda hoping you have a tattoo/airbrush setup being monitored by Sense and that it’s going to stump us all (and Sense) until we suddenly remember: “Oh, he’s the tattoo guy”.

Hi! I’m Erik, and I live in northern VA in a moderate sized single-floor home with a bunch of solar panels on the roof. My installer didn’t include an energy monitor (and I didn’t know enough to ask for one during negotiations - I thought they were always included!), and when I asked, they recommended Sense. I’ve been using my Sense device for almost a month now, and I’m still trying to figure out what it can do for me, aside from show me my overall power consumption (and solar generation, but my inverter provider dos that already, so that’s of limited value). So far, it’s identified my microwave, my garage door openers, and whole bunch of nonsensical devices that either don’t exist or are incorrectly labeled. We’re not off to a promising start, but I haven’t given up on it yet.

I joined the community today, primarily to get some feedback on a pattern I’m seeing (which I’ll put in a separate discussion), since I’m not really sure where else to ask, but I see a lot of potential value here for other questions and discussions.

Hello,

My name is Matt, I am unclear on the whole Wiser/Sense thing but I have questions that need answers and I have not found them here. Hopefully this will allow me to post.

Thanks,

Matt

Welcome. Go ahead and post. The first couple posts are moderated so they won’t be visible immediately, but should go through in a minute or so. One suggestion try a quick search before asking your questions. Often there are already similar questions out there.

Hello team,
I’m a cyber security specialist and all around technology enthusiast. I recently switched over to Sense from E-Monitor / SiteSage. It seems there is a better community surrounding Sense which i look forward to. I also like that the more in-depth approach that just recording each circuit. That said I also think this is an early stage for Sense and I look forward to what this can build into.

Welcome, @mattjurek. We’re happy to have you! As for Wiser/Sense questions, you’re always welcome to reach out to me directly via private message. I can do my best to answer or point you in the right direction  .

Very cool, we’ve been looking for a cyber security community member to round out our supergroup of tech enthusiasts. I see you’ve already found our product wishlist forums, but you’re always welcome to reach out with any questions. We have a great community (as you mentioned) and there are a lot of helpful folks here ready to assist.

If you don’t mind, can I ask what you didn’t enjoy about your previous energy monitor?

Customer support and data analytics were especially lacking. It provided very little in the way of insight and that disappointing because they have a great hardware platform. I had a CT on every single circuit, the mains and the solar feeds. CTs supported the traditional 20 amp loads as well as the larger 50-60 amp loads. It was a great start but their subscription isn’t trivial and for that reoccurring cost i saw little value. Plus there was no attempt to provide any more granular inelegance than whole circuits. No integration with smart plugs for “one off” loads I want more details reporting on like my ponds pump etc. Then the few times I had to reach out to them for help they ignored me or refused. The entire thing went in the trash the day Sense arrived. Now I’m hopeful as you probably saw from my other posts that maybe theres a way to get that extra CT support. That would close the only gap SiteSage had over Sense.

Hey there. My name is Christopher. We moved into a creaky Victorian that seems to use a lot of electricity and so installed a Sense two weeks ago. There are enough crawl spaces and odd machinery around that we figured this might help us identify what is using so much energy. I have a few questions based on readings that I’d like to post and get some insight into if I can.

Thanks

-Christopher

Hi all, glad to be on team Sense! My wife things I am crazy but I am all about saving money and reducing consumption! I am only on day 3 now and Sense has already detected one of the elements on my Electrolux Cook top!

I have some unique devices, pool pump, newer fridge, washer dryer etc. that are variable speed and HE so I am interested in seeing how and when Sense discovers these items.

Looking forward to feeding the beast with our data make Sense better!

Cheers

Hey there @nick.p.horton! Welcome to the Sense community, we’re happy to have you.
Awesome news on your stovetop element detection (I believe my first device to be detected was my Clothes Dryer…no stovetop quite yet).
As @kevin1 mentioned earlier in this thread, there are quite a few resources and helpful folks on here to help you along your Sense journey in case you ever need them.
