Schneider Wiser (Green) Monitors Transition

I am skeptical that Schneider will get this worked out anytime soon. So, I ordered an orange Sense energy monitor from eBay. Can I use the orange Sense monitor with the green Wiser clamps that I already have ?

That was my hope! Mine is also on route.

Theoretically, it should work.

If you’re going to open the panel and pull the monitor, might as well change the CT’s.

Unless you were super anal about the first install and tucked them away nicely, it shouldn’t be too much of a project.

I think he bought just the monitor only (no cables), they usually go for under $100 used.

Another interesting data point on possibly why the SE app is often laggy.

Sense app size = 55mb
Wiser app size = 151mb
Schneider Home app size = 425mb

Wow, the graphics aren’t that polished… wonder what all the bloat is?

Hi everyone, I was out for a few days (maybe not the best timing, but here I am!) and I’m now catching up on everything that’s been shared.

I want to be transparent that my contact with SE is limited, and since I’m a Sense employee—not an SE employee—my knowledge about the SE app and what to expect is also limited. However, I have read through all your comments and I’m actively looking into several of the issues and concerns you’ve raised.

I can’t promise I’ll have all the answers, but I really appreciate you bringing these points to my attention.

I’ll share what I can and will try to bring all the critical issues to the right peoples attention for awareness and if there is anything that can be said on the matter.

I hear your concerns and I’m sorry for the frustration this has caused. Thanks for your understanding.

@JamesDrew can you offer any solution to buy back into the sense ecosystem that isn’t completely replacing the unit with a brand new one.

Not withstanding the Ewaste aspect, we were sold a product clearly marketed as a partnership with Sense and now it’s a barely functional offshoot that’s been caught in a bad breakup.

I’ve lost count of the number of extra devices that have been detected since I’ve been migrated, or the number of missing features (like even seeing my projected monthly bill!), it’s not a problem that’s it’s different, the problem is all the advertised features are gone and even those do work barely work. It’s definitely not what I paid for and basically like having 95% of the functionality taken away.

The only thing that remains is the live view of power per device but even that doesn’t work properly, you can for example only look at specific groups of devices ie top power or other power, but not both at once.

Even very basic stuff like, what is my voltage of both phases is gone. It’s a shell of its former self.

My main ask here is that Sense take some responsibility. It was communicated for years that this was purely a marketing partnership and the device was the same. Me personally I bought the Wiser version as it was the only one available in my country at the time. Now every question is answered with the same answer that you are no longer responsible for these customers and more or less washing your hands of the problem. This looks bad for both Schneider and Sense.

Thanks for your time!

Thanks James. Appreciate any help you can do for us legacy Wiser users. I’ll be creating a video in the next few days going over all the shortcomings and bugs of the new SE Home app, hopefully you can get it seen by someone over at SE who has the ability/pull to address our concerns.

I don’t have a solution yet for how to get back on Sense except to replace your SE monitor with a Sense Orange Monitor. We are looking into the concerns posted here, so I am aware of the issue.

I am mentioning this to you because I don’t want to just say we are looking into this issue and not have a response for it.
I understand your concern about the partnership issue. With that said, I think when this was happening, this was the sincere belief.

Thanks again. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thank you. If you make a video, I’ll take a look. With that said, you may also want to pass it along to a message board or customer support at SE and see what they say as well, since they will have more control over the changes.

Thanks again.

@JamesDrew

Thank you for your reply.

I obviously don’t know the details of the break down between Sense and Schneider however originally we got to use the sense app, that of course worked great. Eventually we had to move to the Weiser version which was not maintained but worked and had the same functionality.

Now we are on the new version written from ground up with none of the functionality. I understand now that you’ve not even seen the app and I want to assure you if you set your expectations very low before you have a look, and imagine ‘whats the worst it could be’ this app will not even meet those.

I understand that business decisions are out of my and your control, but the unfortunate thing at this point is that your users, who understood they were using Sense, are caught in the middle and left with something that we paid for that no longer has the features listed on the box.

I’ve emailed their support but have yet to hear back and I can’t register for their forum unless I say I’m a business lol.

Any chance Sense can create a SKU for just the hardware, i.e. no CTs etc. for the people who got screwed by Schneider Electric? We can send back the cores and you can flash the profile and circulate them back out to others needing this power monitor to actually work with a viable app and website interface?

I was recieved offline on 7/16, received email 7/17 they migrated, took mulitple power cycles to get the module to stay online in the Sch app, magically started working on 7/22, stil no data from the older wiser app. I agree Sch app is lacking alot and not very stabel or useable.. Looking to replace it with something else. The module has worked flawless for years, now everytime I open the Sch app it shows offline, if I go through the reset up, it hangs..

A little info on my situation, I still can’t get past the part where you configure the monitor to connect to your local Wi-Fi. It’s going on almost 2 weeks of being useless. I asked them about any developments or progress concerning my new green and white brick.

Not a very exciting response.

Hello,

The app development team is working on the issue with the app. Please bear with them while they correct the issues.

Thank you

I’m just very thankful these people don’t work at my bank. :joy:

Hi @JamesDrew, please see the below link for the video review I made of the Schneider Home App. This took longer to make than I care to admit, so I hope my effort wasn’t in vain. Sorry for the length, but I tried to be thorough. Any help Sense can provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

Thank you. I may not be able to get to it today, but it’s on my list to look at and make notes of.

Again, though, please be aware that as this is a SE product, the ability of what I can do is limited. Thanks!

Thanks. I forgot to mention some other features that are missing (listed below), but the video gives you a good overview.

  • App no longer predicts what your next bill will be.
  • App doesn’t show how your home’s usage compares with others in the area.
  • Can’t create goals.
  • Can’t zoom in on energy usage graph.
  • Doesn’t tell a devices average usage while on.
  • Can’t delete devices.
  • No Timeline feature.
  • Doesn’t tell you how many times a month a device is used.
  • Doesn’t tell you devices average runtime.

@JamesDrew this is the crux of this problem.

When we all bought the Wiser product, we were all led to believe it was a Sense product packaged in Wiser/Schneider marketing/partnership.

But now, Sense is very careful to say repeatedly, you are not our problem anymore. It’s disapointing.
