Schneider major screws up. my account has just been migrated from sense to schneider and i got an email to register with schneider. BUT schnedier does not allow hotmail
i called and opened a ticket. will see
@superben , thanks for raising. I’m sure @JamesDrewAtSense will jump in when he gets back into the office, but I had indeed heard that Schneider / Wiser was transitioning the green Wiser monitors to their own custom stream of firmware and their own Schneider Home app.
I created a new Community topic for this to share the split little more broadly and because any issues with the Wiser monitors are now handled exclusively by Schneider.
I’m not sure any issues with the Wiser monitors have been handled for several years. The last update to the app was probably around Covid!
This ought to be an interesting mess. I may have to buy a sense monitor. I only have the wiser one because I got a good deal on it and it was (supposed to be) “the same as the sense monitor…. Seems that’s not so true anymore.
the problem now i cannot factory reset the device as it was trying to connect to sense server. from the router, i see now the device is now connecting to se.com only. schneider support says they need to talk to their app team and no ETA.
what a complete mess. I dont think I am the only one having this issue.
I may replace the green box with the orange box.
Sorry to hear of all your difficulties. I had heard that emails were going out to Wiser users on a staged basis explaining the transition. Did you receive one ? Perhaps you can post ? I think the letter focuses on transition to the Schneider Home app (not the Wiser Home app), right ?
As @tm_mechanical mentioned, many users of the Wiser green box went with it because places like Lowe’s and Home Depot offered at a lower price point than the Sense orange box. I don’t think that anyone thought at the time that Schneider would choose to go their own way, but it has been quite a few years.
I received a 2nd email yesterday from Schneider to start using the SE homeapp. here is the email
Thank you for being a Wiser Energy Monitor user. Many users like you have provided feedback on your experience with the monitor and app. We’ve heard you and are committed to providing even more value. Since your Wiser Energy Monitor is a Schneider Electric product, you can now take advantage of the Schneider Home app.
The Schneider Home app makes it simple to use less electricity and reduce your electricity bill. One app does it all, from live energy monitoring and control to energy-saving settings, power optimization, and status updates and alerts. Use the app with your monitor, and for greater control at the circuit and plug level, add Square D control relays and Schneider X series connected wiring devices, all controllable through the same app.
We will retire the Wiser Energy Home Monitor app in order to focus on adding value for you in the Schneider Home app. To continue using your monitor, you must follow the below steps and complete the migration within 2 weeks of receiving this email:
- Download the Schneider Home app (iOS or Android) from the link below
- Use this email address (the email address this email was sent to) and follow the on-screen instructions to register your account in the Schneider Home app
- After logging into your account, you would see a Getting Started screen.
- Make sure to enter a ZIP code for your monitor to get the approximate energy cost, weather information
- Complete the setup process by selecting Continue on the on-screen pop-up
After the setup is complete, your monitor’s history (past two years, with some delay), live data, Square D Control Relays will begin appearing in the Schneider Home app. Please allow a minimum of 30 days for complete data migration.
Also, refer to the step-by-step guide provided in the attachment on how to create your Schneider Home account and register your Schneider Energy Monitor.
The Schneider Home app offers a new look and feel while keeping the core benefits of the Wiser app, plus additional features.
You will continue to:
- Track your home’s energy usage in real-time with the updated home screen and power meter and see how much it’s costing you.
- Set up notifications to keep you in-the-know.
- Have solar? Compare solar production and energy consumption side-by-side in a single view so you can maximize the power you make and minimize the power you buy.
- Access your home’s data 24/7 from anywhere using the Schneider Home app.
- Use the monitor you currently have in your home. For consistency in naming with the app, we’ve renamed the Wiser Home Energy Monitor to the Schneider Energy Monitor.
Additional features:
- Have a vacation or second home? Now you can add multiple energy monitors to one account.
- Set up Away mode to keep your energy use to a minimum when traveling.
- Have more control at the circuit level by adding Square D control relays to save you money by:
- Using the TOU (time-of-use) automation feature which allows you to run your larger devices when it’s more affordable to do so (dependent on your electricity plan).
- Scheduling devices on and off (with control relays and/or Schneider X series connected wiring devices).
FAQs:
Will I be able to continue monitoring my energy use?
- Yes. The look and feel of the app will be different, but the core functionality remains the same.
Who do I reach out to for help?
- Add Schneider Support info (chat/phone is ideal).
What should I do with the Wiser Energy Home Monitor app?
- You can delete it from your device. Once the Schneider Home app is launched, you should only access your data using the Schneider Home app.
If you have any questions, please contact 1-877-SEHOME-1.
and this is the 1st email I got from them 2 weeks ago

It’s definitely a staged roll-out, I received the first email on 6/16. I have not received the second one yet but will post my results after I make my attempt.
Schneider has been lagging with updates of the Wiser app. My Android versions say it was last updated on 6/20/24. Looking forward to checking out the new app as it looks radically different.
well, i called schneider today to follow up. their support still has no clue. i just bought the emporia vue and are ready to jump ship if schneider is not fixing it sometimes this week
I could care less about my data history, so I did a factory reset of my wiser monitor. In the process it says it deleted the account.
But the scheinder home app will not detect Wi-Fi sources in my house.
Attempting to start new from the wiser app results in a message saying the monitor is locked to another account and to go to the MyHome setting, which is impossible as it deleted the account.
Could the monitor still be linked to original account I used? I would think the factory reset would put it in a virgin state.
I had a call into scheinder back as others have said, the support team is clueless.
Hi all,
Sorry for the late response. I just wanted to say that while this switch may be rocky, if you can get your account ported over, I would try sticking with the changes for SE for a bit and see how you like them. I think they are working a lot to rethink how energy monitoring is done, and some of the features may be quite valuable.
Granted, send me a private message (PM) if you continue to have trouble moving your account over with SE and I’ll see what I can do to try to help you individually. With that said, I don’t have a lot of pull on the SE end, and it is probably better to work with their help center. I just want to make sure everyone is hopefully able to transition over.
Thanks again!
I will never understand the whole Wiser partnership and fork of Sense hardware… What is the appeal of end users buying Wiser versions of Sense? Is it cheaper? You’d think the original company that developed it would be the subject experts on the hardware firmware and UX…
I am absolutely not surprised this Schiender split is a complete disaster. A few years back, I beta tested a few of their smart home products (with Sense integration). It was the buggiest crap of all time. Blatant firmware bugs and their dev teams were unresponsive to resolving all of the reported issues. It took months of outsourced development to even get a single update, then it was all abandoned.
The Sense team rocks… Scheider is a bit of a joke. Based on that beta alone, they solidified their reputation with me and I would never* get any Schiender smart products. Ever. It was a terrible experience.
Sense team and its support is top notch. Stick with Sense hardware
In the beginning, they were the same except for some wiser integrations that the sense monitors didn’t have. Then the split happened, with a forced app change by a firmware update and then the app was pretty much abandoned.
I got a deal on mine, which is why I bought the wiser version.
I have a sense version, I believe, arriving tomorrow.
I may keep the 2 running for comparison. (If I can get the wiser one configured again)
How much power do the monitors draw? Could they be run off the same breaker?
@tm_mechanical, power draw of the Sense monitor is very low - something like 2-3 watts Always On. I run both of mine off the same breaker (I have two orange Sense monitors, one that uses the FlexCTs for solar, and the second one purely for DCM for my EVs).
One other piece of useless history - I had my orange main monitor working with a couple of Wiser smart devices through the Wiser Integration until Sense depreciated. The integration worked OK, but occasionally threw out huge phantom power spikes often measuring close to 1/2 MW for 10 LED bulbs
Looks like this may be happening to me. I have received zero communication from Sense or SE on this, but just now my Wiser device is being reported as offline on the app. This is not the case as I see it connected to my router, I can ping it’s IP address and there are no issues with my Internet. I’m guessing my account is being migrated with zero notice. Very frustrating as the only reason I bought this is because at the time it was sold as being a Sense unit with SE branding and it was cheaper than the orange box.
@JamesDrewAtSense If I were to buy the orange version could Sense migrate my existing data to the orange one?
My green one is apparently being looked into by Schneider app tech support.
Im not even sure if this’ll post. I can’t log in with this tm_mechanical account from other devices or browsers. It says no account found with this name.
Might be from my factory reset, I didn’t think it would screw up the forum account.
Try to get the one with the Ethernet option so you can hard wire it! The new orange sense monitor I just received has one. A lot less latency, and no Wi-Fi means less random Wi-Fi activity.
Nice! I didn’t know they had Ethernet. That would work out well for me as I have a network switch just a few feet away from my electrical panel.
Where did you get your new Sense from and which model is it?
Amazon, I hate Amazon but when I purchased it during prime days it was cheaper.
For the record guys, I’ve said it before, I’m not sure how this account is still working on the forums, as I can only access it from this iPad discourse app which was logged in before the wiser monitor reset which deleted my account. I’m afraid to log out.
So if this account stops working I’ll be on the forums under the new monitor account which is linked to user @flipflopkid
Hi
Sense data can’t be migrated from one orange box to another so it also can’t be migrated from one Greenbox to an orange box. Whenever a user gets a new monitor that user has to start over.
With that said I would give the Wiser app and monitor a chance before switching. I know they are working on many new features and it may work for your needs in the future.
