I am “other than happy” about losing a Sense-ible energy monitor…
Today I tried to call the support number in the app to figure out how I unlinkand factory reset the device in the new app and it just immediately hangs up. I think Im going back to Orange Sense but can’t even figure out how to reset this green one in the new app now.
How did you factory reset the Wiser monitor using the Schneider Home app? Or was that using the old Wiser app?
The wiser app.
I still haven’t been able to log in and use the wiser monitor. Had a support ticket, they never resolved it. Last thing they said was the app team was working on it.
It worked for over 3 years, Schneider’s transition made it as good as brick to me… to be honest, an actual brick would be more useful than the green wiser monitor I have now.
dang… mine dropped around the 12th. I finally installed the new app… nolike… seems to work. the viz is not intuitive at all (UI developpers at SE, find another job please…) . The firmware in the monitor hardware section says … “not found”
I wanted to reset the old devices found… didn’t find how (and i do now want to open my electrical box).
And, which annoys me the most, another side effect of the website transition to SE also is the drop of the integration with Homeassistant… jeez… I do not want to witch to emporia just bc of that… but I want my from/to grid and solar generation monitoring back at least.
June 13: Read an email telling me my beloved app with energy bubbles was being… replaced?! (I work in IT, I was already not seeing this as a good thing)
Same day: Left 1 star review on Schneider Home when I couldn’t get registered and had Googled to hear from others…
…
July 20: More reading at the Sense forums. Ordered a Sense SM3 on ebay (base module only but with ethernet port, whoa!). When I got it, I realized it was listed as For Parts, which was somewhat surprising to me but I was very annoyed when I bid on it and the price was right.
…
August 12: Unplugged now unusable Wiser Energy, installed the Sense module. It worked out of the box without issue. I choose to add “+Sense” to the end of my Gmail address to avoid conflict with my old Wiser account (I wasn’t going to contact Schneider at this point).
For the first few days, I was surprised and happy to see some tweaks to the app that wasn’t in the Wiser Energy app (I had no idea it was on life support).
Things don’t always work out this well, but aside from having to replace part of the hardware at my own expense, I am happy things are back to normal. Life is too short to wait for SE to eventually have a stable and useful app that primarily is designed for those that are heavily invested in the SE ecosystem.
I don’t particularly want to replace the Wiser Energy Monitor with a true Sense one but if I were to take that plunge, would it just be a matter of swapping it and configuring it to my existing account? Would all of my historical data and devices be preserved?
Truly frustrated at this forced migration - the Sense app and interface is so elegant and well, the SchneiderHome is just the polar opposite of that.
It’s rather surprising that this isn’t available… I mean, what happens if the box fails, start over? Wow…
When you get replacement hardware, you login with your existing Sense account and retain your configuration. SE Wiser customers are unfortunately separate from Sense customers and we’ve been told it’s not an option for us to switch over to Sense: We’re not Sense customers, we’re SE customers. Sense provided the service for Wiser but we aren’t Sense customers. At least not until we acquire an orange box… This is unfortunate but it’s out of Sense’s hands (it’s been discussed further back in the thread).
No, sorry to say you’d be starting from scratch. It’s not an elegant solution but… it’s a solution.
To clarify, is it just because we’re SE customers that we are forced to start from scratch? In other words, if I was replacing an orange box with another box (cause the first one failed or something), would the same apply?
Just incredible ![]()
I don’t think that’s the case, at least not from what James said earlier:
Schneider Wiser (Green) Monitors Transition - #20 by JamesDrewAtSense
Sense data can’t be migrated from one orange box to another
Hi @JamesDrew, I saw the below posted on Reddit. I doubt this is true, but can you confirm?
Reddit - The heart of the internet
- if you really intended to buy do it sooner since Sense doesn’t manufacture new boxes anymore and when these sold out they NLA.
Hi,
This is a topic I can’t discuss either way. I’m here to troubleshoot and customer support.
I’m sure you can understand. Sorry about that.
To confirm:
Yes, data is non-transferable, even from one Sense Monitor to another.
The best approach is to log into your old account and download your data to a CSV file first: https://help.sense.com/hc/en-us/articles/5125482284051-Can-I-Download-My-Sense-Data
If you set up your new monitor, you will need to create a new account, as you are starting fresh.
To use your same email with the new monitor:
- Make sure to either factory reset your old monitor (if you can get it online) beforehand, or
- Log into the old account (you will be able to do this if the monitor is offline), go to Settings > Account > Email, and change it to another email address you control. This will free up the previous email you can not add to your new Sense.
Alternatively,
You can use subaddressing if your email provider supports it (not just Gmail—some major providers do not, so it’s best to check): How to Use Plus Addressing in Gmail: Complete Guide
I hope this helps. Thank you.
The Schneider app is garbage
The schneider app is an epic fail. I have the sense monitor on at one house and the schneider and another. The sense app enabled me to dedicate so many issues. And when you are remote thats really helpful. The schneider is barely useful anymore. The live view is now replaced with activity and its far from active. So disappointed with this migration.
So many features are missing.
Yup, for me it’s just being able to login to my account. I’d think this one would be a no brainer.
