Previous versions and firmwares allowed use of either sense or wiser apps with the wiser units.
Starting somewhere around the 2024 version, sense stopped allowing the sense app access to the wiser units and forced the wiser app onto people with the wiser branded unit.
Are there fewer technical problems and bug fixes needed for the wiser units because there hasn’t been an update to the wiser app for 6 months.
There have been 19 updates to the Sense app since version 2024.1 was released.
You’re raising a good question. I don’t know the business model Sense has with Schneider / Square D Wiser for updates, but I do know that they now have two different code streams. One of the recent Sense app updates was removing the Wiser Integration from the Sense-branded app, which actually caused some hiccoughs for my monitor. I think the Wiser app has special code to work with their relays and maintain connection with compatible Wiser smart switches, outlets and dimmers. I do wish that someone at Sense maintained a feature table for each incarnation of Sense devices - Orange D2C (direct to consumer) monitor, Green Wiser OEM monitor and the various Sense-enabled meters (that really only work with the Sense app if your utility has enabled).
Also curious about this. It seems like separating the code bases is resulting in fewer updates for Wiser users which will lead to a worse customer experience.
